SETTLEMENT SUPPORT PLAN AND INTEGRATION

With these services we would like to create a positive settlement experience for newcomers and their families who are planning to live and work in Canada and to become active participants in Canadian society.

As we all know Integration is a long-term process but doesn't have to be the rocky one. To be able to adapt as quickly as possible into our communities we will provide you with the direct assistance (if you are coming to Manitoba) or access and referrals, as much as we can (if you are settling in other provinces) to the following services:

Once you've retained us and become our "Client" these services are available at no additional charge to you. NOTE: We don't pay for them, you pay for these services if applicable, ( for example: you pay a rent, cable, phone, TV, internet etc) but we will help you with the information on it and how to access them.

If you are coming to Winnipeg we will meet you at the airport on arrival. Welcome to Canada.

Find a place to live (House or Apartment) based on your budget. You might be able to find temporary accommodation for a few days at some affordable hotels in Winnipeg, for around $60.00 per night until you find an apartment and get your lease agreement. Lease agreement is usually for the period of one year. Some rental agency allows you to sublet your apartment before your lease term expires. In that case you will be required to give at least one month written Notice to Vacate. Rental prices can vary depending on the area and the suite luxury; however expect to pay on average anywhere from $600.00 and up for one bedroom apartment and from $700.00 and up for a two bedroom apartment. Furniture Purchase: All rented apartments are furnished with the Fridge and Stove. You can use coin operated laundry in the basement (shared washer and dryer) and wardrobe closets are Wall Closets so you don’t need to buy them. You can buy either used http://www.valuevillage.com or new furniture. To get a better deals look for SALE prices. For up to date prices and to look at what is in store, just Google: “furniture store Winnipeg”

A Cost of Basic TV Cable including around 15 channels is around $40.00 per month. Home phone line is around $25.00 per month, plus applicable long distance charges. You can inquire to a long distance telephone services provider and get information on their rates to your desired destination. For more information on product and services just Google:  BLUE LINE, STARTEC, MTS, BELL, TELUS etc. http://www.startec.com/CA/EN/   http://www.mts.ca/

High speed or cable internet would cost you around $50.00 per month. If you combine your TV, Phone and Internet Services with one provider (e.g. in Winnipeg SHAW, MTS ) you can get a whole package for around CAD$100.00
